These are natural resins extracted by incision into trees. The
granules can be burnt on charcoal pieces (sold separately) or for
a lighter fragrance it is possible to use a candle resin burner.
The selection of resins here have been appreciated since the dawn
of civilization. From the Pharaohs to the Greeks, the Persians,
the Romans and the Turks, each civilization has developed its own
individual use of resins. Their subtle and yet powerful perfumes
are able to lift the spirit and the gently rising smoke has been
seen as a link between the earthly mundane world and the intangible
worlds of the Gods.
Frankincense
From the sacred Boswellia tree this resin has been used since ancient
times by the civilizations of Egypt, Africa and Mesopotamia. It
is also the famous incense from the bible thought to awaken a feeling
of union with the divine. With a characteristic purifying and relaxing
quality its Yang character is thought to strengthen willpower, self-confidence

Myrrh
Used since ancient times this resin is extracted from the bark of
the Balsam tree. It has long been used in religious settings and
is thought to awaken sensitivity and receptivity. Its strong balsamic
fragrance has a relaxing effect. R2
Benzoin
This resin is extracted from the Styrax Benzoin tree, found especially
in Java, Sumatra and Laos. Its purifying and aromatic properties
have made it important in perfumery. It evokes cheerfulness and
enthusiasm and symbolically has been used to invoke good fortune

Sandalwood
An ancient mixture derived from the Buddhist and Taoist tradition.
It is made up of powders from red and white sandalwood, eucalyptus,
Chinese juniper and various other plant and roots native to China.
It is used for meditation, prayer and relaxation. R4
Tibetan resin of purification
A traditional recipe combining ginger, pine, rhododendron and other
plants to create a harmonious and peaceful atmosphere. R5
Camphor from China
A white crystalline substance extracted from the Camphor Laurel
(a species of Cinnamon tree). Renowned for its striking freshness
it is used to purify the vital energy and known to have a beneficial

Copal
The original incense of the American-Indian civilization. Extracted
from the sap of the Bursera tree found in South and Central America,
India and the Philippines, its scent is a subtle mixture of pine
and lemon. It is used as a purifying and protecting agent and is

Kandea
from the Amazon
This resin comes from the Amazonian rain forests where it is used
by the Saramaka Indians. An extract from various trees of the Burseracea
family, it has a fresh and revitalising fragrance. R8
Storax from Turkey
Extracted from the Styrax tree this is a fragrant substance
with a floral perfume. Traditionally the aroma of asceticism
and trance, it encourages refreshing sleep and good dreams.

A resin extracted from the Pistachia Lentiscus tree found in Greece.
It has a revitalising fresh aroma and is good for helping to control
the emotions and clarify thoughts. Traditionally it is the fragrance
