Resins In Glass Bottles

Natural tree resins have been known for their aromatic properties since ancient times. Their origins are truly global, coming as they do from as far afield as South America, Indonesia, Amazonia, Africa and Australasia. Here are six of the best known and loved resins in stylish new glass bottles for a fresh and pure look. Resins can be burnt on charcoal pieces (CH1) or alternatively for a much lighter fragrance you can use a candle resin burner (see below B7)

Frankincense from Somalia
From the sacred Boswellia tree this resin has been used since ancient times by the civilizations of Egypt, Africa and Mesopotamia. It is also the famous incense from the bible thought to awaken a feeling of union with the divine. With a characteristic purifying and relaxing quality its Yang character is thought to strengthen willpower, self-confidence and determination. GR1

Myrrh from Somalia
Used since ancient times this resin is extracted from the bark of the Balsam tree. It has long been used in religious settings and is thought to awaken sensitivity and receptivity. Its strong balsamic fragrance has a relaxing effect. GR2

Benzoin from Laos
This resin is extracted from the Styrax Benzoin tree, found especially in Java, Sumatra and Laos. Its purifying and aromatic properties have made it important in perfumery . It evokes cheerfulness and enthusiasm and symbolically has been used to invoke good fortune and divine grace. GR3

Kandea from the Amazon
This resin comes from the Amazonian rain forests where it is used by the Saramaka Indians. An extract from various trees of the Burseracea family, it has a fresh and revitalising fragrance. GR4

Camphor from China
A white crystalline substance extracted from the Camphor Laurel (a species of Cinnamon tree). Renowned for its striking freshness it is used to purify the vital energy and known to have a beneficial effect on the respiratory system. GR5

Storax from Turkey
Extracted from the Styrax tree this is a fragrant substance with a floral perfume. Traditionally the aroma of asceticism and trance, it encourages refreshing sleep and good dreams. Gives protection from negative energy. GR6
