Shinjukoh was formed in 1999 as a distributor of fine quality Japanese incense. Since this incense is made entirely from natural ingredients it provides a range of far more subtle fragrances than the traditional chemical based incense to which we are accustomed. Incense has been used in Japan in both religious and secular contexts for many centuries and is an integral part of daily life and culture. We can observe its elevation into a full art form in the beautiful Koh-Do incense ceremony, where participants “listen” to the images evoked by the incense.

With an emphasis on purity of ingredients and elegance of design in keeping with the Japanese range we are now happy to include incense from India and Tibet, natural resins and many attractive holders.
